Deck Building Tips: Wood vs. PVC
Have you considered building a deck or patio this spring? Here is one of the main decisions to keep in mind: Wood vs. PVC
PVC decking and pressure-treated wood are similar in appearance, so which one is a better fit for your home?
1. WOOD: The initial cost is usually slightly lower than PVS. It fades with sun exposure and needs regular maintenance, such as power washing and resealing. Some homeowners prefer the look of the faded wood over time, creating a rustic and weathered look.
2. PVC: The initial cost is higher than wood, given the fact that while this material also fades, it does it a much slower pace than wood. As opposed to wood, PVS needs only a quick hosing at the beginning of the season to maintain it's fresh look, which makes it easier and more affordable to maintain.
Spring Cleaning Tips
To clean and revive wood after a long winter, keep it simple by mixing a mild oil-base soap with warm water, and use a worn out t-shirt to rub it in.
